For this home renovation in Remuera, Auckland, Tree Essence expanded on initial drawings by Peterson Architects to design a new kitchen and scullery.
The client wanted their kitchen to be timeless and as true to a traditional Shaker style as possible, not even succumbing to the luxury of modern componentry. Tree Essence rose to the challenge, meticulously hand-crafting it all, including dovetail wooden drawers. Solid Fiijan Kauri was used throughout, painted in eggshell white and topped with a Carrera marble bench. Space was particularly tight in the scullery, so to maximise its high ceilings the final design included a ladder – also made using traditional techniques.
Pictured is also Tree Essence’s classic ‘Island’ dining table made of European oak (to the client’s size requirements).
